IMANI boss, Franklin Cudjoe has been accused by Chairman Wontumi of taking a bribe to pursue his sinister agenda against the Electoral Commission of Ghana.
Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako alleged that Mr. Cudjoe had taken a bribe from the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress and that had energized him to come against the good intentions of the EC.
“Franklin Cudjoe has taken $79,000 bribe from John Mahama”, the NPP Chairman known as Chairman Wontumi said on his TV and Radio network.
The protest against the decision by the Electoral Commission (EC) to compile a new Voter Register took an interesting turn on Monday when two powerful civil society groups sought to rope in the Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II, to use his revered office to resolve the impasse.
Policy think tank IMANI Africa and the Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA) petitioned the Asantehene and the Asanteman Traditional Council to intervene in the EC decision to compile a new voter register.
The groups say the EC’s decision to compile a new voter register is creating tension in the country, hence the need for the Asantehene to intervene.
But Chairman Wontumi is of the opinion that foolishness has taken over the heart of Franklin Cudjoe.
He stated that he couldn’t believe Franklin Cudjoe would ever petition Otumfuo Osei Tutu over the EC’s decision to compile a new voter register after previously disrespecting him.
He stated that “foolishness has taken over the heart” of Franklin Cudjoe and it is for this reason that he has pieced together a petition.
“Franklin Cudjoe is my friend but I can see foolishness has taken over his heart. Just like the Bible says, you have to use a rod to remove the foolishness from the heart of a fool”, Chairman Wontumi explained.
