Dr Clement Apaak, Member of Parliament for Builsa South, has blamed the departure of 44,000 teachers from the profession on poor working conditions.
On the Sunrise show on 3FM on Wednesday, January 19, he told Alfred Ocansey that this is the highest number in the last twenty years.
“It is the highest number of teachers walking away from the classroom in the last 20 years,” said the Ranking Member of Parliament’s Education Committee.

Meanwhile, the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has been on strike where they have been making demands for improved conditions of service.
On the other hand, the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has expressed their reservations about the change in semesters and the increase in contact hours.
