26th Ghana Football Association (GFA) Ordinary Congress took place at the Technical Center of the Ghanaian Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram where 91 members out of the total number were present.

The Congress was broadcasted live on Facebook and YouTube in the response to the Social Distancing Protocols and Covid-19 preventive measures.

The issue which was discussed at the congress that is making headlines in Ghana sports news is the issue of the monthly salary of President, Vice president and the Executive committee members.

Emoluments Committee of the Ghana Football Association, led by Frederick Moore (CEO of Accra Hearts of Oak), proposed a monthly remuneration of GHS 12,000 for the GFA President and GHS 7,000 for the Vice President and GHS 4,000 for each of the Executive committee (EXCO) members.

The new arrangement will also see the GFA President receive GHS 1,600 as sitting allowance for EXCO meetings, with GHS 1,400 and GHS 1,300 going to the Vice President and EXCO Council members respectively.

The GFA President will receive $500 per diem on every international travel assignment. $400 will go to the Vice President and Executive Council members will receive $300.

For domestic travels, the GFA President will be given GHS 600 per day for accommodation and transport, GHS 500 going to the Vice President and GHS 400 for the Executive Council members.

These proposals were objected by a section of the Congress.

However, members voted in support of the recommendations, when they reached a consensus that a well-remunerated leadership would yield better work output for the development of Ghana football.
