Private legal practitioner, Evans Amankwa has questioned President Akufo-Addo’s directive to have seized illegal mining concessions burnt.
This comes after Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah announced the President’s decision to have seized excavators and other galamsey equipment burnt.
In reaction to this, Lawyer Amankwa questioned the motive behind such directive and called out the information minister, who is a lawyer himself, to state which law allows the burning of seized concessions.
According to him, the directive is only a ploy to deal with persons involved in galamsey and do not belong to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“…The exercise is unnecessary completely and nothing good will come out of it. I can confidently tell you that, the directive is to attack certain individuals who are not members of NPP”, he said.
