Open letter to President Akufo-Addo: Construct footbridge for Ashaiman

[ad_1]

Dear Sir

I write as concerned citizen and on behalf of all well-meaning pedestrians and any other road users who cross the motorway from the Ashaiman side of the “underbridge” and Klagon side either way for urgent attention to avert accidents that may occur due to unauthorise crossing on that stretch. It’s time to build a footbridge there for pedestrians.

Over the years, settlements have sprouted around that area and the latest is a new market situated close to that particular point which has made it a “hot” bus-stop, popularly known as “Under-bridge Bus Stop” for the Accra- Tema bound and Tema -Accra bound vehicles on the motorway.

This situation poses serious danger to human life and vehicular accidents common, due to how pedestrians and other road users cross or link to each community.

The right of citizen to freely move should not be jeopardised by unavailable resources, as several accidents occur around that point. From look of things a massive disaster is looming, as witnessed around other high ways within Accra.

It’s about time authorities in charge take pragmatic action to redeem the situation there.
I want to leave you with a quotation from John Bel Edwards, which says that “we never know when or where harm may strike, but we can take proactive steps to protect ourselves.

Thanks for your consideration!!
