It’s not your turn to represent NPP as flagbearer – Amoako Baah to Bawumia

Dr. Amoako Baah, a prominent NPP member, has urged Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia to forego leading the party into the 2024 general elections.

He stated the party had a large list of presidential hopefuls before the Vice President.

Dr Amoako Baah told Media General’s Williams Evans Nkum that others wanted to be president but had to wait to support candidate Akufo-Addo.

“Just because you have a given job does not automatically make you a contender, there were other people there before you arrived,’ he said.

“Look at the circumstances, Nana Addo brought in Bawumia, who was not an NPP insider. People objected, but he was resolute, and he accompanied him to the polls, where they lost.

“Twelve years in line, the others were still waiting. “Are you the only one in the party?”

“We had high aspirations for Nana Addo, so we let him go,” he continued. I fought so hard for him, but now you have a young guy as shadow Vice President for sixteen years, plus four years. He’ll be gone for four years, or twenty.

“What happened to those who dared Nana Addo? You should stand down after twenty years to be fair to the party. Fairness is stepping aside to let others compete. Neither do I, and he should be removed as Vice President since I chose him. Is he the only one?”

Though Dr. Bawumia hasn’t proclaimed his presidential ambitions, he is anticipated to compete alongside Minister of Trade and Industry Allan Kyeremanteng.
