The majority in parliament rejected a bid by three minority MPs to halt the implementation of E-Levy on May 1.
The MPs have asked the Supreme Court for a temporary halt to the levy’s implementation pending the outcome of a substantive case challenging its constitutionality.
In parliament, majority leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu warned the NDC MPs against using internal parliamentary processes.
“We’re told they’ve filed an injunction and the Minority has petitioned the Supreme Court to rule on the supposed unconstitutionality of the E-levy votes. I will just say that it is up to the Minority to prove their case in court.
“So if the House has made a decision, they can bring a motion on it. Why don’t they want to? Why do they have to prove it? Finally, on the injunction, I won’t say anything, but I think we both know it’s a waste of time,” he added.
The Suame MP said the levy will go ahead as planned.
Also slammed Minority Chief Whip Muntaka Mubarak for moving to revoke the speaker’s referral of three majority MPs to the privileges committee for absenteeism.
The speaker referred the petition against the MPs to the privileges committee, according to Suame.
