Black Stars Deputy Captain Thomas Partey has confirmed that he converted to Islam because of his girlfriend.
The Arsenal player was seen in photos on social media suggesting he is now a Muslim.
Speaking in a casual interview with his friend Nana Aba Anamoah, he said for the love of his new girlfriend, he had to convert to Islam so he could settle with her.
“I’m a Muslim,” he said adding that “I have a girl I love, I know my sidechics will leave me but it’s no problem”.
He continued ” I grew up with Muslims so at the end of the day it’s the same thing”.
When he intends to get married to the lady, Partey said “I’m already married and my Muslim name is Yakubu,” he said.
