Joe Mettle, a multi-award-winning gospel singer, has gone to Twitter to distance himself from awards ceremonies in Ghana.
Hours after a radio host from Accra-based Hitz FM questioned why Joe Mettle was absent from this year’s Ghana National Gospel Music Awards, the artist revealed the truth.
“Ye Obua Mi” hitmaker who has had a great year in the music industry justified his exclusion from the candidates’ list through a tweet later on.
A note from him said, “Yes sir, I asked to be excluded from consideration for the awards this year.”
As he failed to provide an important cause to defend his exemption, the FAQ is whether the exemption is limited to the Ghana National Gospel Music Awards or whether it may be extended to other award schemes in the nation like the VGMAs.
It’s more likely that Mettle will take a year off from the country’s major award shows to concentrate on his music career and other endeavours, and that he will return stronger the following year to win more accolades.
