Alfred Duncan quit international football after feeling ‘pushed aside for years’ His club Fiorentina confirmed his international retirement on May 28, 2022.

Duncan said he was ‘humiliated,’ ‘discriminated,’ and ignored despite striving to make the Black Stars.

No one offered him the opportunity to make history with the Black Stars, so he’s saying goodbye.

“The time has come to say goodbye to the national team. My heart is sad because I wanted to write a piece of history with the Ghanaian national team but they NEVER gave me the chance to prove it.

“When you are never considered and there is nothing you can do to change the situation, mentally it becomes more difficult. I have been humiliated, discriminated against, and left aside for years even though I have tried to keep the doors open all the time,” the statement said.

Alfred Duncan was on Ghana’s U-20 team that won bronze in 2013. He debuted against Cape Verde in 2012. 10 matches were played.

His last game was in 2019 in 2021 AFCON qualifiers vs South Africa. 61 minutes.
