Milovan Rajevac has been fired by the Ghana Football Association (GFA). The Serbian was fired after a poor performance by Ghana in the current AFCON in Cameroon.

The Sports Ministry has ordered GFA to restructure the Ghana Black Stars Management Committee.

The Ministry and the Association met in an emergency on Friday.

They addressed the Stars’ performance at AFCON 2021 and preparations for the World Cup playoffs in 2022.

A press release obtained by JoyNews said that “the Ghanaian people have lost faith in present technical staff of the Black Stars to bring success.”

For this reason, the GFA was also tasked with “reviewing the present Black Stars technical staff headed by Milovan Rajevac.”

The GFA was reluctant to fire the Serbian, according to Joy Sports, because of the severance charge the nation would have to pay — an estimated minimum of $270,000, with a sign-on fee of $370,000.

The Sports Ministry had already voiced its displeasure with the senior national soccer team’s performance in the present AFCON competition in Cameroon.

The Black Stars were eliminated from the competition after losing to Comoros in their last group game.

Team departed with one point. They also lost to Morocco and drew with Gabon.

The Ghana Football Association is anticipated to announce Milovan’s dismissal shortly.
