An Accra Circuit Court on March 26, started the trial of Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, aka, Bulldog, who threatened President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in a video telecast on air.

Nana Ama McBrown, an actress and hostess of a United Television programme upon which the infraction with the law occurred, was expected to mount the witness box as a prosecution witness.

However, during court preceding yesterday, March 26, 2021, lawyer of Nana Ama McBrown insisted that his client will never testify before the judges on the claims that as the EC chairperson Jean Mensa did to NDC in the just-ended election petition, she (McBrown) too cannot be forced to testify for the government against Bulldog.

“the court cannot compel someone to give a witness statement as Jean Mensa did in the 2020 election petition”, the lawyer cited.

It’s on records that Bulldog in the studios of UTV’s United Showbiz programme that “The President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will not finish his four-year term if he failed to pay customers of an alleged Ponzi scheme by Menzgold.

As a reminder, during the election petition, the Supreme Court ruled that the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs Jean Adukwei Mensa, cannot be compelled to testify in the 2020 presidential election petition filed by former President John Dramani Mahama.

Thus, the EC Chairperson will not mount the witness box to be cross-examined in the petition in which Mr Mahama, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the December 2020 elections, is challenging the declaration by her that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), won the presidential poll.
