Center for Strategic and Defence Studies, Africa (CSDS Africa) has called on the government to boost the production of face masks, sanitizers and make them mandatory, free and available to all Ghanaians.
This, according to them, will significantly mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in the country. They also urged the government to enforce strict laws to increase safety compliance in markets.

Portions of the press statement read “CSDS Africa believes that if Government undertakes efforts to make facemasks free for all Ghanaians, the private sector will move in to support Government’s efforts, and this will go a long way in enhancing prevention. Countries such as South Korea and Iceland, are two countries that have implement measures that have greatly reduced the spread of the coronavirus.”
Meanwhile, the Greater Accra Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has announced the compulsory wearing of face masks by residents in the capital “with immediate effect”.
The Council stated that the move was “to ensure compliance with the President’s directive on social distancing and the wearing of face masks”.
