Dubawa, a Facebook fact-checking organization has labeled the alleged Akufo-Addo bribery video which was bandied around by NDC Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi as fake, dated, and doctored.
It will be recalled that a video was making rounds on social media this week in which President Akufo-Addo was seen receiving a brown envelope from some individuals.
The video was covered with a narrative by the NDC which sought to suggest that the President had taken a bribe of $40,000 from a Civil Servant in order to guarantee that public officer his job.
The President’s camp denounced the video and dismissed the narrative, insisting that the said video was taken in 2016 while the President was still an opposition leader. According to them, the money was a campaign donation and was not even in dollars.
But after the video was shared on the Facebook page of the NDC’s Communications Director, Independent Fact Checking organization, Dubawa that works with Facebook to identify fake new and clamp down on it declared the video as fake.
According to the fact-checking organization, the video has no basis of fact and is therefore misleading the public hence was blocked from public viewing.
