A Nigerian Journalist by name Gimba Kakanda has described veteran Nigerian actress Genevieve Nnaji as an average actress, saying she is nowhere close to Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson in terms of acting.
The journalist’s comments come in reaction to a massive debate that ensued on social media in which movie lovers sought to compare new acting sensation Adesua Etomi with the veteran Genevieve.
However, Kakanda believes that both actresses are overrated. In a post on social media, he wrote,
“Genevieve is actually an average actress, there’s nothing extraordinarily spectacular about her acting. You should be talking about someone like Mercy Johnson if you want to talk about someone much more talented, and above the league of Adesua.
Adesua is yet to be stretched in the fashion of, say, the incredibly talented Mercy Johnson. She’s unlikely to have Mercy’s range, and talent, but her difference with actresses like Genevieve is the one between six and half a dozen. She’s a Genevieve with fewer movies and stardom.
As a reminder, Mercy Johnson-Okojie hails from Okene in Kogi State. Born in Lagos to a former naval officer, Mr Daniel Johnson and Mrs Elizabeth Johnson, she is the fourth child in a family of seven.
