Police hunt for Western Togoland secessionists over new signages

The Ghana Police Service has revealed that it is on the hunt for Western Togoland secessionists who have planted signages at Akorley in Somanya in the Eastern region.

Ghanaians woke up on Thursday, September 3, 2020, to these signages along the main road with the inscription “Welcome to Western Togoland”

This is believed to be coming from the Volta Separatist Group who specifically mounted them with the inscription” “Welcome to Western Togoland” when heading towards Somanya from Accra and “You are leaving Western Togoland” when heading to Accra.

The group is bent on creating a separate nation out of Ghana despite the several arrest and detention by the government of key members of the Separatists.

Reports also suggest that similar signages have been mounted at Akuse in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality.

Meanwhile, armed police officers from the Yilo Krobo Command pulled down them on Thursday afternoon revealed to the press that they have stepped up security in these places in order to apprehend those behind the erection of these signages which are in contravention of the laws of the country.
