Just In: Chelsea announce the signing of former France captain

Chelsea FC have announced the signing of former France U-18 captain Malang Sarr on a free transfer deal.

The left-footed centre back who is out of contract has been a key figure in the junior side of the France national teams having represented France from under 16 to under 21 levels and captained the under 18.

The 21year french defender played for a local side Nice, established himself as a regular first-team player at age 17 making 100 appearances within 3 years and won the clubs young player award.

Sarr’s contract with his boyhood club ended this summer and has signed a 5-year contract with Chelsea even though there was interest from other teams. The player will spend the 2020/2021 season on loan according to the official page of the club.

Marina Granovskaia on Malang Sarr said;

“The opportunity to sign Malang was one we couldn’t miss. He’s a tremendous prospect & we’ll be monitoring him closely during his loan period, hoping he will soon be back at Chelsea. We’re very happy to welcome him to the club today.”
