The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has chided the leadership of the National Democratic Congress for abandoning the Manhyia Palace ever since they lost the 2016 general elections.
The respected King in a welcome address to former President John Mahama and his team who paid him a visit noted that for a very long time, the leadership of the NDC had not visited him as they did before when they were in government.
“You only visit me when you were in power, it has been a while you came to visit me. Today I have seen people who for a very long time, I haven’t set eyes on”, he said in an address monitored by Wontumionline.com.
He ended his speech by advising them to frequent the Manhyia Palace like they did before noting that “my grandchildren, today I have seen you all, next time come and visit me”.
The flagbearer of the NDC, Mr. John Mahama today introduced his running mate to the overlord of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
Osei Tutu II is the 16th Asantehene, enstooled on 26 April 1999. By name, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is in direct succession to the 17th-century founder of the Ashanti Empire, Otumfuo Osei Tutu I. He is also the Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
