Immediate past Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu has asked the President, Nana Akufo-Addo to warn his party faithful and government officials not to stop attacking him.
The Citizen Vigilante who resigned from his position on Monday, 17th November 2020 in a yet-to-aired Citi FM interview chanced upon by The BBC Ghana said appendages of the government have been issuing various threats upon his life ever since he resigned from the post.
Martin Amidu said he knows the faces behind the attacks on his person and properties but said he would not want to name them now.
He added that he would expose the ‘evil doers’ at the right time warning the President to ask his supporters to stop the attacks on his person since ‘he, the President is responsible for his life’.
Mr Amidu said he has made all attempts at getting the security agencies to come to his aid but to no avail.
“Let me tell you one thing, all these threats about murdering me, armed robbery, burning my house, I am aware, I tried to call Kan Dapaah, he didn’t pick it and I called a National Security Adviser to inform him…,” he said.
He further alleged that he knows that people behind the threats on his life.
“And I know the persons involved, I can name them, I reserve it for the mean time…the President will be responsible for anything that happens to me…,” he added.
He also described the president’s response as “blatant falsehoods”
“…So what is all these lies because somebody has performed a professional duty and responsibility? Please, I have said, since I left office that I was not going to give any fresh interviews about my resignation [and] I was not going to talk to the press, I am being pushed by so-called ‘responses’ to me which contain blatant falsehoods.
The ‘Citizen Vigilante’ as he is popularly referred to, therefore, said he would be forced to lay things bare when he could no longer withstand these attacks.
“…I do not want anybody to blame me when I speak out and it becomes unpalatable. So either the attacks stop or I will defend my integrity even if that means my death.
“It is something I won by dint of hard work from the PNDC [Provisional National Defense Council] era to date and I’m not going to allow anybody, not even a president to pull that integrity into the mud,” he warned.
