According to NDC General Secretary Asiedu Nketia, the e-levy will be repealed by the future NDC government if it is ever implemented by the NPP administration.
He stated it will be a part of the NDC’s first 100 days in office. On February 10, 2022, he stated this while addressing a crowd of protesters in Accra.
E-levy will be abolished when the next NDC government comes power since we don’t consider it a tax but rather daylight robbery, said General Mosquito.
Even if additional taxes are collected, this is theft. Production or value addition are not subject to this tax. In broad daylight, individuals are being robbed because they keep their money in their momo wallets rather than in their pockets.
When the e-levy was introduced in Ghana, the government of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was faced with fierce opposition.
The NDC and the government’s Minority believe they cannot support the fee because it would bring a lot of hardship for individuals who are already struggling financially.
Ghanaians have been warned by the government that the tax would make running the country more difficult.
