Former Ghanaian footballer Laryea Kingston has called for the dismissal of Black Stars coach Milovan Rajevac following the team’s poor performance in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 10-man Black Stars were eliminated from the competition after a 3-2 loss to Comoros Islands.
The Black Stars went winless in Group C. Kingston, a 41-cap Ghanaian disagrees with Rajevac’s tenure as coach.
Rajevac’s tactical naivete cost the Black Stars in Cameroon, Laryea Kingston told the BBC.
“It was a poor performance. The team had no identity. How can you win with no identity? Milovan Rajevac has nothing to offer the Black Stars after what we saw in Cameroon.
The Black Stars were the first team to exit the current AFCON campaign without a win, and the first since 2006.
Following the humiliating exit, the Ministry of Youth and Sports called a meeting of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on January 21, 2022, to discuss the team’s performance.
Ghanaians have lost faith in the technical team’s ability to bring success, according to the Sports Ministry.
The Ghana Football Association reportedly fired Rajevac, 67. (GFA). The FA has not issued an official statement denying or confirming these stories.
