The present state of former goalie of the Senior National Team, the Black Stars, Sammy Adjei has sent shockwaves down the spines of sports lovers in the country as to what could have happened to the hitherto sought-after player.
News reveals that ‘Barthez’ as affectionately called in football circles, after his career as a footballer is now a manager of a public toilet at Labadi, a suburb of Accra in the Greater Accra Region.
The revelation was made by Laryea Kingston, a playing mate of Sammy Adjei, who confirmed the news on Football Legends Night Show on GHOne TV.
According to Laryea Kingston, after Sammy Adjei’s retirement some years ago, he decided to rather take advantage of the non-availability of places of convenience in suburbs of the nation’s capital to invest in the sector, one of which is at Labadi.
His situation has reignited concerns about how footballers live extravagant lifestyles and fail to secure their future at the peak of their career with all monies and other things at their disposal.
As a reminder, goalkeeper Sammy Adjei played for many years with Accra Hearts of Oak until he had a call up to the Black Stars but was dislocated by Richard Kingson.
