Former Forestry Commission Monitoring Unit Director Charles Owusu has urged Ghana to avoid involvement in Russia’s current assault against Ukraine.
Dailymail.com reports that Russia has launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine from the south, east, and north.
According to their account, “missiles and bombs rained from the air, tanks crossed the border, troops parachuted into eastern areas, and explosions could be heard throughout the country.”
Hundreds of Ukrainian troops are said to have been murdered.

Charles Owusu said that Ghana’s role in the ongoing conflict, which many fear might lead to a third world war, is negligible.
He believes that the government should do a better job of running the country in order to serve Ghanaians.
Even though he was concerned about the impact of Russian policy on the world economy and in particular on Ghana, he thinks the country would survive provided its government takes adequate measures.
He advised President Akufo-Addo and his government to overlook the Russia/Ukraine impasse in order to overcome economic challenges affecting Ghanaians and to address concerns of Ghanaian students in Ukraine.
“Ghana has no power to intervene in Ukraine’s affairs.” Because Ghana has no option. On Peace FM’s flagship broadcast “Kokrokoo,” he added, “We may dispute and discuss it, but we can’t have any impact.”
