Pastor Mensah Otabil has caused a stir with his latest controversial comments amid the numerous call by clerics to lift the ban on church gathering.

The head pastor of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Mensah Otabil says it’s not advisable for various churches to gather as confirmed cases of the COVID-19 increase.

According to him, the virus is real and shouldn’t be taken as a joke. He emphasized that the church has a responsibility to protect their members than the risk it in this trying moment.

“This is not the time for churches to consider gathering together in assemblies because the crisis before us is not going down,” the preacher said during his virtual church service on Sunday”.

He also urged church members to adhere to all directives laid down by the president to reduce the spread of the COVID-19.

”Just when we thought in Ghana we were having control over the situation, we are beginning to realize the virus has a mind of its own. It doesn’t seem to correspond to some of the efforts we are making. It may not seem suitable to us but that is the price we pay to make the world a better place” he said.

Meanwhile, according to the Ghana Health Service Directorate, Ghana has so far recorded 4,263 cases resulting in 22 deaths and 378 recoveries.
