Sammy Awuku, the National Organizer of NPP, has urged NDC followers stop seeking redress on the streets through their recent demonstrations when they can lawfully match to the law courts to present their grievances in the elections and seek solutions.
Days after the declaration of the outcome of the December 7 polls which saw Nana Akufo-Addo declared president, the NDC has embarked on a series of demonstrations nationwide to express concerns over their claim of this year’s election been a flawed one.
But the NPP National Organiser in a Citi News interview urged the NDC leadership to take a cue from what the NPP did in 2012 when they also cried out foul in the outcome of the election that year.
“In all honesty, I feel the pain of the NDC youth and supporters, but I disagree with them on their approach. I am not saying the NPP are saints because we were in a similar instant in 2012 but the party leadership as quickly as possible galvanized the base of the party, addressed the people, and then gave them hope of heading to the court but up to date, the reason why you have these protests ongoing is that, the NDC does not believe that they have to end this case in court but believes Jean Mensa must overturn the results which have already been gazetted.
“So how do you seek redress on the streets unless you are telling me that the new form of democracy is on the streets. I agree that it is right to protest but those rights must also be within the confinement of our laws”, he stated.
