Kobby Kyei, a blogger, has stated that he and his wife, Georgette, were married on the spur of the moment after she became pregnant.
Kyei, a guest on ‘Ayekoo Ayekoo’ on August 30, 2022, revealed that his partner became pregnant when he was resting on a black blanket valued 20ghc, “my first property.”
He said that he was getting by on the so-called “solidarity” or “soli” payments given to journalists for covering events and interviews.
The 50ghc he was sometimes handed seemed like a lot of money at the time, but he said, “I had just begun blogging, and nobody recognized me or had my name on their list when I went to events.”
Despite living in squalor, Kobby Kyei remembers asking his pregnant fiancée to stay with him and then going to ask her parents for their daughter’s hand in marriage.
He told listeners of Accra 100.5 FM, “I took her hand and went to meet her parents the exact day we realized she was pregnant.”
The blogger cum trumpeter said his fiancée didn’t inform her parents about his shabby apartment. Because she had faith in my determination and perseverance, she looked out for me.
The girl’s parents, whom he referred to as “Uncle Ato and Ma Harriet,” reportedly provided him with a shopping list of necessities before agreeing to the marriage proposal.
He said, “I went to present the list to my parents, but they told me they were unprepared and this was an unplanned wedding and I wasn’t employed.
For the wedding at St. Martin de Porres, Dansoman in Accra, the award-winning blogger once again used “soli to purchase clothing and other requirements,” crossing each item off her list with great seriousness.
On Saturday, July 7, 2018, Augustus Koranteng Kyei, aka Kobby Kyei, and Georgette Tanoa Dadzie exchanged wedding vows.
