In an interview for the “Way Up With Angela Yee” podcast, Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie discussed how he compensates musicians, surprising many fans with his generosity.
The rap legend revealed that he makes sure artists signed to his company receive very good remuneration, even going so far as to keep paying those who have left.
Sarkodie discussed the unusual 50/50 split contract his label has with artists, a remarkable practise given the financial commitments the label has made. His devoted fan base was shocked and filled with admiration when he made this announcement.
Sarkodie highlighted during the conversation his dedication to treating artists fairly and with respect, a unique position in the frequently contentious music business. He emphasised the importance of giving artists fair recompense for their toil and devotion to their trade.
Sarkodie claimed that the reason he subscribes to this idea is because that is what he would have liked to have happened. In addition, he said that when he was just starting out as an artist, he did not have the luxury of a record label.
Many people were taken aback by the rapper’s comments as a result of previous accusations made by one of his former signees, Strongman, who claimed that he had not made much money while working for SarkCess Music.
Sarkodie was paying artists on his label 50 50 percentage while he was the one putting in the money and till date he still pays them.???????????????????? pic.twitter.com/I8IM4K9OJz
