Formerly the Gold Coast now Ghana had ten (10) regions in the past however the regions has been expanded to ten (10) new districts making it sixteen (16) regions in total.

The Greater Accra Region has the smallest area of Ghana’s 16 administrative regions, occupying a total land surface of 3,245 square kilometers. It is the second most populated region in the country.
