Akufo Addo departed Ghana on Sunday to attend the European Development Days Forum in Brussels, Belgium, and the Commonwealth of Nations Heads of Government Meeting in Kigali, Rwanda.
President Akufo-Addo is one of 11 leaders addressing European Development Days.
The European Commission hosts the event to inspire new alliances and creative solutions to the world’s most urgent problems.
The 15th EDD focuses on “Global Gateway: Building Sustainable Partnerships for a Connected World.” Global Gateway is the new European Strategy to increase smart, clean, and secure digital, energy, and transport linkages and strengthen global health, education, and research networks.
President Akufo-Addo will attend the 2022 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting on June 22. (CHOGM).
Commonwealth leaders are visiting Rwanda to reaffirm their ideals and agree on measures and policies to better their populations’ lives.
The President is also slated to visit the Kigali mRNA vaccine factory groundbreaking. BioNTech is building modular “turnkey” mRNA vaccination facilities in Rwanda and Senegal, with fill-and-finish in Ghana.
Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, the foreign minister, and other officials joined him. In President Akufo-absence, Addo’s Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will act.
