Deputy General Secretary for the New Patriotic Party, Lawyer Obiri Boahene, has confessed developing fears after former President John Mahama garnered over 6 million votes during last year’s election.
Speaking on the Wontumi Morning Show to host Oheneba Nana Asiedu, the seasoned politician noted that he was shocked to learn that despite the policies the Akufo-Addo led government has introduced in Ghana, his main political opponent managed to poll such a number.
“I am scared John Mahama had 6 million votes. It happened because some people still want the political eight-year cycle to continue. These are people who don’t care about the policies implemented to ease the plight of Ghanaians”, Nana Obiri Boahene explained as reasons that contributed to the rise in the votes the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress obtained.
He continued that it is about high time Ghanaians considered political parties that run their business based on well thought out policies rather than following the eight-year cycle rule preference of governance.
He was optimistic the NPP would break the eight-year political cycle jinx.
