A Former Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) for Tamale Iddrisu Musah Superior has said that the leadership of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has mishandled the party.

The General Secretary hopeful highlighted that the party had grown so weak because members who have sacrificed and fought so hard for the party in the previous four years have not been sufficiently paid and are thus hurting.

Speaking in an interview on Bolgatanga-based Dreamz Fm monitored by MyNewsGh.com, he said that the internal structures of the party had almost broken down and constituted a substantial danger to the agenda of the party to win the 2024 elections.

Musah Superior underlined that despite the Nana Addo-led administration is doing incredibly well in the governance of the nation via its policies and programmes, the present status of the party would likely destroy the achievements earned by the government in a quest to maintain power.

“Our party has grown so weak because a lot of individuals who have worked for our party are suffering whilst we have a highly competitive administration headed by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. The data I have done showed that 61 percent of the party last executives didn’t have jobs or important enterprises and I believe it is completely wrong. You follow a political party for two reasons and the biggest one is the Ghana motive. We feel that the party has competent individuals; competent manifestos and that they can administer the nation efficiently. They feel that their flag bearer or candidate is great and that the party can deliver the project Ghana. So it is one of the primary reasons we support political parties,” he remarked.

He emphasized further that “The second reason is your own growth motive. Every individual joining a political party will have it at the back of his or her brain that when I work so hard for the party to attain power then the party should also be able to aid me. That is what is missing presently. In the previous five years, the National leadership of our party has not been able to put a strategy in place to help our party people and when I say our party people I mean the executives of our party”.

While making a case for his election as General Secretary of the NPP, Musah Superior disclosed that he will set up a scheme that will empower members of the party at the constituency levels by setting up a scheme that will pool resources for the economic empowerment of executives of the party and welfare of members in general.

“The office of the General Secretary should be the principal lobbying office for our party members. We should support and aid them and therefore if they need contracts we go out there and push for them. When they require chances in recruiting difficulties we find it for them. This is how a political party is actively organised,” he remarked.
