Broadcast Journalist, Afia Pokua has criticized the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) following a decision by the party to suspend its former Central Regional Chairman, Bernard Allotey Jacobs.
Afia Pokua believes the suspension of Mr. Allotey Jacobs will not in any way brighten the chances of the NDC in the upcoming elections later in December.
The host of the Egyaso Gyaso show on Okay FM, speaking on Wednesday, May 6, 2020, expressed worry over the manner in which the party chose to suspend Mr. Allotey Jacobs.
“If you don’t suspend Allotey what will happen? The best to do is to call Allotey and talk to him so he can understand that party comes first and he says he won’t listen, then you ignore him and go on with the 2020 campaign so that you can focus so that we can see that you have a united front and give NPP a run for their money so that If Nana Addo is even able to win election 2020, he will appreciate the stiff opposition, that is the kind of contest we want,” Afia Pokua said on her show.
Mr Allotey Jacobs was suspended by NDC on Wednesday over acts said to be against the interest of the party. In a letter dated May 6, 2020, and signed by the party’s National Chairman, Mr Allotey Jacobs is said to have breached articles 46 (1), 46(6) and 46(8)(b) of the NDC constitution.
