The Taste Of Afrika, organisers of Cultural Oneness Festival, which is an initiative to promote cultural awareness, domestic tourism and the diverse rich culture of Africa and their outgrowth in the Diaspora is slated for November 13 -16, 2024 in Northern Ghana.
This year’s Cultural Oneness Festival is themed ‘Leveraging on our Strength for Shared Growth and Prosperity as One People’.
To make a meaningful impact in our cultural and historical landscape in 2024 and beyond, organizers of Cultural Oneness Festival have decided to connect Diasporians, tourists and natives from the Exit (Cape Coast) back to the Roots (Northern Ghana).
As a result, Tengol K. Kplemani led The Taste Of Afrika team to meet Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, the Omanhen of Abeadze Traditional Area, who doubles as the immediate past vice-president of the National House of Chiefs and former Council of State Member.
Also, The Taste Of Afrika team met Mr. Ernest Arthur, the mayor of Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, to discuss how there can be a meaningful and productive connection between the Diasporans from their exit point in Cape Coast to their roots in the Northern parts of Ghana.
Y’all know British slave processing fort Cape Coast Castle’s infamous “Door of No Return” is where 200 years ago, thousands of African slaves were sent to colonies in North America under brutal conditions and today, many African-Americans can trace their ancestral roots as having passed through that door.
So, beyond the Castle’s infamous “Door of No Return”, Diasporans must be taken to their roots because the slaves were brought from somewhere before their final exit from the country as Diasporans as we see today.
Consequently, The Taste Of Afrika intends to bridge the gap by connecting the Diasporans, tourists and natives through the Exit (Cape Coast Castle) back to their Roots (Northern Ghana and beyond) journey experience under the Cultural Oneness Festival’s “Cultural Roots Tours” activities.
