The Ashanti Regional Chairman of Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP), Kofi Owusu Omar, says Ghanaians will not make the mistakes of the previous elections by handing power back to the NDC.
In an interview on Wontumi Morning Show on TV and Radio on Monday, July 20, 2020, Chairman Omar said that the registration exercise has so far been peaceful and successful adding that, “the smooth process makes one feel proud of being a Ghanaian.”
He held that “the new register would be so genuine to the extent that it would kill any hope or desire the NDC may have of coming back to power.
Chairman Omar also predicted that the eligible SHS students will vote massively for Nana Akufo-Addo which would make the NDC witness an unprecedented defeat.
“I expect the next election to be without any form of a stressful run-off.” He said
Chairman Omar lamented that even though Ghana started with Malaysia and South Korea all these countries have advanced their economies far ahead of Ghana, but added that “there is no hope of Ghana catching up with the two Asian countries because we are back on track. Thanks to Nana Akufo-Addo’s policies.”
The GCPP Chairman noted that the NDC “ugly noise” from the NDC’s quarters regarding ongoing voters’ registration exercise is meaningless because they see defeat staring at them.
“The NDC’s rank and file are fully aware that they will lose the election, come what may and this explains their desperation and fruitless to derail the process of the voter’s registration and the resumption of academic work by SHS final year students.” He explained further.
Chairman Omar lamented the extent to which the NDC communicators have become naive and continue to pass on wrong information to their flag bearer.
According to him, “this phenomenon has become John Mahama’s major challenge – that is, commenting on national issues from uninformed position thus, exposing his ignorance and lack of in-depth knowledge of burning national issues.”.
He continued, “The earlier they kept quiet the better it would be for them because no Ghanaian is being prevented from voting in the Volta Region or anywhere in the country.”
Chairman Omar commended the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon Simon Osei Mensah, and the Electoral Commission (EC) for the effective security put in place at the various centres’ in the on-going exercise.
