Antwi Boasiako, known popularly as Chairman Wontumi, who’s the Ashanti regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has clarified the need to use a different voter register for the upcoming elections.

Speaking on Wontumi TV, the firebrand of the NPP said the current register has about 35percent names of Togolese and as far he’s concerned, Togolese cannot choose or impose a President for Ghanaians.

He, therefore, backed the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) insistence that only a new voters’ register can ensure Ghana has a credible 2020 elections.

The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) since last year has justified why they need to compile a new voters’ register for the 2020 general elections despite opposition from the camp of National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Just yesterday, May 21, 2020, Asiedu Nketia, NDC General Secretary, made it emphatic that NDC doesn’t mind spilling blood just to make the EC changes its stance on the voters’ register.

To the best knowledge of Asiedu Nketia and the NDC fraternity, new voters’ register exercise will just be a waste of time as well as recourses, therefore, there’s no need.

Besides, taking into consideration the time left for the commencement of 2020 elections, it’s illogical for anyone to support the EC to embark on another registration exercise.
