A National Democratic Congress (NDC) delegation led by General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia has filed a nomination on behalf of its flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama to contest in the 2020 presidential elections.
The documents were presented at the offices of the Electoral Commission (EC) in Accra on Wednesday, October 7, 2020.
Mr. Mahama couldn’t file the nomination in person as he was at Sewfi Wiawso to grace the official launch of his party’s 2020 campaign.
But speaking after the presentation, Chairperson of the EC, Jean Mensa voiced her disappointment at the absence of the NDC flagbearer, explaining that it would have been an avenue to bring clarity to some issues he has raised about the electoral processes thus far.
However Mr. Asiedu Nketia also reacting to Jean Mensa’s comments stated that they are baseless and unfounded.
He argued that the law does not demand the physical presence of Mr. Mahama neither does it stop the Commission from inviting him to trash out issues.
