Ghana Education Service (GES) has finally reacted to the video of a WASSCE candidate from the Sekondi College in the Western Region of Ghana raining insults at President Akufo Addo for what the student described as difficult final year exams.

It could be recalled that some in some years ago had to work hard after writing their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) with the expectation of helping their parents to be financially sound to cater for them in Senior High School (SHS) education.

However, the issue today is different as Senior High Education remains free at the ideas of His Excellency President Akufo Addo who saw the need for a Free Senior High School Education in Ghana which is first to occur in Africa.

The final year students of the policy is completing this year and their final West African Examination Council (WAEC) examination was rescheduled as a result of the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Just a few days after starting the exams, the exams have been surrounded with demonstration upon demonstration from the students’ front tagging the examination as beyond their standard.

This has resulted in a viral video that has since gone viral with a student using unwarranted words on the President of the land.

Ghana Education Service in response to this viral video has called for a disciplinary measure to be levelled against the final year student as the Sekondi College and his other colleagues in the video who was caught in the said unlawful act that goes not only against the guidelines of the school but the country at large.

PRO for Sehwi District of GES, Mr Owusu speaking on Wontumi radio this evening said that the final year candidates should remain calm as this unfortunate incident is only happening in some few selected schools.

“..it’s unfortunate that these students are behaving this way and we look forward to look into the said matter…” – he said.
