A political analyst and an educationist, Mr Boakye Yiadom has urged the government to cancel teacher trainees if they cannot consistently pay.
The moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Reverend Prof Obiri Yeboah and some Ghanaians have called for the cancellation of the teacher and Nursing trainee allowance.
According to Mr. Yiadom, the economic situation is making it difficult for the government to consistently pay the allowances.
“Government is finding it difficult to pay the allowances due to the economic crunch in Ghana. If the country will be stabilized by canceling the allowances then it should be cancelled”. He asserted on Oyerepa Breakfast Time hosted by Kwesi Parker-Wilson.
Mr. Yiadom suggested that student loans could be initiated to perform the same task the allowances will perform.
