John Dramani Mahama, the 2020 flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress(NDC), has donated motorbikes and laptops to the Regional Office of the NDC to assist in campaigning for the 2020 Elections.
This was part of measures to reach a larger audience in the grassroots as COVID-19 as created discomfort in equal accessibility.
Henry Ametefe, the Volta Regional Chairman of the NDC donated the items on behalf of the former President which included 36 new Driving and Vehicle Licensing Authority motorbikes and 18 Lenovo Laptops at the Regional Office in Ho.
The motorbikes were already registered with each constituency receiving 2 each.
The Regional Chairman advised the beneficiaries to use the motorbikes for a door-to-door campaign.
He said, “The motorbikes are supposed to facilitate the party work on the ground. That means that our people (campaigners) have to get closer to the doorsteps of the people. Because of the COVID-19, we are not going to have big rallies in the constituencies, definitely, we need to get our messages closer to the people at the grassroots.”
Reacting on the donation of the laptops, he said, “We are in an information technology world, so we need to be abreast with the global trend, we need to be able to collate our results, and we need to be able to get the information on the ground as far as the result’s collation is concerned.”
