Ellen DeGeneres born Ellen Lee DeGeneres is an American comedian, television host, writer, producer, and actress. She was born January 26, 1958, in Metairie, Louisiana, U.S. She was a student at the University of New Orleans where she majored in communication studies. Ellen left school to do clerical work in a law firm after one semester. Her early works included waitressing and house painting.
DeGeneres started her stand-up comedy at small clubs and coffee houses where she was the emcee at Clyde’s comedy club in New Orleans. In the early 1980’s she began a national tour where she was named Showtime’s funniest person in America in 1984. In 2018, DeGeneres appeared in a Netflix stand-special, Relatable.
