A leading member of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Nana Akosua Frimpomaa Sarpong-Kumankuma has said the Free SHS policy is the only good initiative in the country under the Akufo-Addo led government.
Speaking on TV3’s New Day show monitored by The BBC Ghana, she noted the Akufo-Addo administration effort to ensure all Ghanaian children get access to education without any cost is a step in the right direction.
According to the politician, the Free SHS is helping expand the knowledge base of all Ghanaian children irrespective of their status in the country.
Asked what will be her assessment of the Akufo-Addo administration over the period, she said “For me, it will just go back to four years ago and the only good thing I see now in Akufo-Addo’s government is the Free SHS.”
Nana Akosua Frimpomaa Sarpong-Kumankuma further said beyond the past four years she hasn’t seen any better improvement in the country.
“With the Free SHS policy I believe that no nation can develop without the expansion of the human mind.” the National Chair of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) told the host of TV3’s New Day show Johnnie Hughes.
President Nana Akufo-Addo in September 2017 introduced the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy to ensure candidates who pass the BECE continue their education at the secondary level without paying a penny.
