Suspended former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Bernard Allotey Jacobs has rubbished the brouhaha generated by the transporting of President Akufo-Addo’s special chair on his campaign tours and official treks.
President Akufo-Addo’s famous chair first gained public attention when it was carried into the studios of Damongo-based Radio PAD while the President was on an official tour of the Savannah Region.
Since then the chair has generated considerable debate among the general public, with the MP for Bolga Central, Isaac Adongo openly alleging that the chair is carried round in a dedicated V8.
NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, while in an interview on a Sunyani-based radio station also jokingly stated that should he win the 2020 elections, he will not be carrying a chair around when he embarks on a thanksgiving tour.
However, reacting to the development, Mr Allotey Jacobs believes the controversy generated by the President’s carting of his chair on his treks is unnecessary because all past Presidents have done it including former President Mahama who is seeking reelection.
According to the suspended party chairman, then President Mahama even transported two sniffer dogs on his official tours to sniff the Presidential dais.
