South Africa’s Coronavirus Cases Jump To 9,420 With 186 Deaths

South Africa, the epicenter of the ravaging coronavirus in Africa has a total number of 9,420 confirmed cases and 186 deaths as of Saturday, May 9, 2020.

Citizens no longer feel safe with the current spike in deaths. According to reports, 525 people were confirmed positive for the virus on Friday, 8th May 2020 whilst 8 more deaths were recorded on Saturday.

Out of the 9, 420 cases, 3,983 people have recovered from the virus. The country has successfully conducted 324,079 Covid-19 tests, out from which 16,327 are new tests conducted on Saturday.

Mkhize said:

“We are saddened to report eight new deaths, seven from the Western Cape and one from KwaZulu-Natal. We have also been advised that one of the deceased was a nurse at Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town. We pay special tribute to this health worker,”
