An educationist, Mr Samuel Richard Ziggah has urged government not to consider closing down schools amidst reported cases of Coronavirus.
According to him, closing down schools or allowing parents to come for their children is dangerous and could trigger the spread of the virus.
“If you rush to the schools and withdraw your wards from school without any proper testing, you could spread the virus in your family and threaten the lives of other people. What the parents should understand is that, their wards are like soldiers in a war front. They only thing needed now is for them to pray for their wards. If the worse happens, we can only console those affected,” he opined.
He called on government to send in health workers to conduct an intensive mass testing in the various second cycle schools in order to isolate from other students. To him, that’s the surest way of allaying the fears in students as they prepare for their exams.
