The West African Examinations Council has initiated investigations into the circulation of a yet to be finalized version of an Examiners’ list for the WASSCE 2020 on social media.
In a press release Wednesday, the Council described the development as unfortunate and disturbing adding that it has reported the matter to the Cyber Crime Department of the Ghana Police Service for due action to be taken.
The WAEC assured fairness in their marking process while apologizing to all examiners whose contact details were circulated on social media.
“The Council wishes to reiterate its commitment to safeguarding the integrity and credibility of its examinations and certificates respectively,” the statement said.
WAEC also took the opportunity to address other rising matters including the circulation of examination questions on social media and the activities of rogue websites that are actively propagating fake exam questions on social media.
According to the Council, investigations have also been initiated concerning those matters and “the council will continue to roll out measures to deal with these illegal activities in order to ensure fairness to all candidates and maintain the integrity of the examination.”
